EFF leader Julius Malema meets journalists over the VBS Mutual Bank corruption allegations. He is going to respond to 5 journalists about any question they have.
Julius Malema says he never benefited from VBS Mutual Bank money and says he never lived beyond his means.
Malema: Let’s take this opportunity to thank the journalist who have made time. Following the Press Conference of the NPA about the VBS Saga, wherein I heard Samkele mention the names of myself and the Deputy President, even though we were never mentioned by NPA.
Malema: I then decided to give Samkele a call and have him arrange five journalists who were going to ask me questions on all the matters I have been accused of.
Malema: I said to Samkelo, put up a team. Any critical journalist is more than welcome. We are here with you now, stop bringing excuses of people who are not here.
Malema: I have never benefited anything from VBS, if I have present it.
Julius Malema now accuses the Reserve Bank and other authorities of ignoring earlier warnings by people he knows about the VBS corruption and nothing was done.
Julius Malema says he asked even President Cyril Ramaphosa to save VBS “I said if there could be any other opportunity of formulating another bank that works along the principles of VBS, then lets do that”.
JuliusMalema says all he spoke to his deputy Floyd about is to ask what is happening with the matters related to VBS. He says they are finding conclusion into those matters. He adds that lower structures of the party can discipline Brian Shivambu if they see it fit.

Malema: The Communist Party got money in VBS, ANC Limpopo, ANC National got money from VBS. But today they don’t have the dark cloud because the intention is to discredit us.
Malema: The intention was to collapse the EFF. When they said Malema collapsed Limpopo, the intention was to discredit Malema. That is how Pravin operates. The aim is not to get conviction or go to trial. The aim is to smear you.

Malema: Mahlatse and Tshidi there is no donation from VBS. Your champion Pauli would have exposed it by now. She works with a guy at Werksman who is part of the liquidating, that’s where she gets her information. She would have exposed it.
Malema: You say that card is VBS money yet you say that the same card has work in different entities, Tshwane, in Johannesburg. You keep shifting the goal posts.
Malema: You cannot just throw an allegation that they gave you a bribe and you benefitted. How did we influence the tender? The mayor is DA. The company you are talking about did business in Tshwane long before the EFF
Malema: The EFF gets audited and approved every year. We submit our books to Parliament and the IEC
He also says he was renting the Sandton house he upgraded for millions. He was told by ANC elder leaders to buy and upgrade so that more people could be accommodated when they visited. Money was raised as a donation to pay for the upgrades.

Malema: There is no party that is going down. Why are we not being arrested? Why are not being charged? It is because those charges are not there.
Malema: If these people had real evidence they would have come for me. You know how they feel about me they tell you in corners.
Malema: I don’t get engaged in illegal dealings. I even wrote a letter to the Asset Forfeiture Unit and said if these proceeds received by Ratanang Trust are illegal we are willing to pay the money back.
Malema: Our view is there must be a co-existence and everlasting peace in the Middle-East. The people of Palestine must rightfully claim their land, Israel must leave their land. Palestine must be recognized as a legitimate State.
