Tebogo Thobejane, a former Muvhango actress, embarked on a journey to Dubai seeking safety after a harrowing incident where the car she was in was sprayed with bullets. However, her life abroad has proven to be less glamorous than it appears.
Struggles in Dubai
Tebogo’s upbeat social media posts may depict a carefree life, but sources close to ZiMoja reveal a different reality. She grapples with the expensive lifestyle in Dubai, where even a seemingly ordinary burger can cost up to R300 or more. The exchange rate between the South African currency and the Dirham (Dubai’s currency) has been a major challenge for her.
Recently, Tebogo shared enticing content from her Dubai vacation on Instagram, including a video of her enjoying poolside moments. Yet behind the scenes, she faces financial constraints. Her decision to leave Mzansi (South Africa) was influenced by a hostile clubbing scene and the weight of animosity directed at her. Before her departure, Tebogo had reopened her entertainment lounge, Club X, in South Africa, remaining resolute with the belief that “my ancestors would never fail me.”
A Possible Return
Those close to her report that Tebogo is contemplating a return to South Africa. She may either hustle or seek a full-time job. Despite the challenges, her friends commend her for being a dedicated mother and taking her responsibilities seriously. The television star, however, declined to comment on her situation.
