It’s common for celebrities to use their influence to start businesses, and some turn their love for a specific thing into a money-making idea. Here is a list of five Mzansi celebrities in the haircare business.
Pearl Thusi
Pearl Thusi launched a haircare business that she named Black Pearl. Black Pearl is a range of hair care products for any hair, and black Pearl collaborated with AfroBonatics to formulate the hair products used to lock in moisture in both natural and relaxed hair.
Zahara
The singer has always had people complimenting her on her natural hair, so it made sense that she would want to go into the hair care business. Zahara has announced that her business will be called Zahara country girl. She refused to share the company that she is co-owning the business with. The brand consists of shampoo, conditioner and afro oil.
Zandi Nhlapo
Zandi joined the list of Mzansi celebrities in the haircare business using a completely different angle. She started a salon that is child-themed. She says her grandchildren inspired the salon. Zandi argued that the reason that had motivated her to start the salon is that most of the discussions in ordinary salons are not children-friendly. Her salon is called Mini You Mini Me.
Dj Zinhle
The mother of two launched a Peruvian hair wig range named Hair Majesty by DJ Zinhle. According to the hair website, the range will have new styles added every two or three months. The wigs currently retail at R2200-R4000
Shonisani Masutha
She became the first African actress to star in a Bollywood TV series and the first one to launch her hair extensions. The brand is called Shonisani Braids. Shonisani was approached by Afrotex, a hair company, to become a brand ambassador for their hair. But she wanted to be more than just the face of the Afrotexhair.
