Police and army members are restricting the public from getting into Kwekwe town CBD. Pictures and videos we received this morning show long congested queues as motorists are being denied access to the town.
The motives of the soldiers and the police are not yet known but the country has experienced similar unexplained restrictions in Harare and in Bulawayo.
Reports indicate the government is averting a demonstration by civil servant that are currently withdrawing their paltry salary from banks. Long queues are likely to be experiences which could result in protests.
Currently doctors and nurses are demonstrating in the capital Harare.
The Kwekwe shutdown is viewed as an effort to curb the possibility having similar demonstrations across the country.
