Former MDC Vice Chairperson Morgen Komichi’s project to reinstate former party leaders has suffered an early setback as some former leaders are refusing to be associated with him.
Former MDC Manicaland provincial chair Anthony Chimhini has distanced himself from the Morgen Komichi directive to reinstate all party leaders after February 2018.
Hon. David Anthony Chimhini was supposedly reinstated by Komichi as Chairperson of Manicaland Province and here is what he has to say
Good morning Manicaland cadres. As the outgoing Manicaland Provincial Chairman, who did not contest at the May 2019 Congress, I wish to place it on record that there is no way I can go back to be Manicaland Provincial Chairman again. This is a matter of principle that once I stepped down, that was the end on my Chairmanship of Manicaland Province. Secondly, when people contested at the May 2019 Congress, it was on the full understanding that they were doing so under the MDC Alliance banner. In that regard, the Executive, of which I am a member, duly appointed by Hon Advocate Chamisa in his capacity as the elected President of the MDC Alliance, emerging from that process, I subscribe to President Advocate Chamisa and the Party he leads. I have taken this position to clear misconception about a perceived interest to lead the 2014 structures which have been replaced at the various lower Congress es of 2019. I plead with all Manicaland cadres to remain focussed and fight one opponent who is ZANU PF. Internal discord will never save the suffering masses of Zimbabwe. It’s time to move on and give full support to the MDC Alliance leadership. Given the above, I totally distance myself from any machinations that intends to associate me with the revolt. I thank you all.
