Keke Mphuthi Scandal
Mphuthi doesn’t have a lot of scandals but the one she has is a major one. Mphuthi alleges that the Fergusons fired her from The Throne because she fell pregnant and refused to abort her baby. This allegation comes as a response of support when veteran actress Vatiswa Ndara’s wrote an open letter to the Minister of Arts and Culture detailing the abuse and exploitation that many actors face in the entertainment industry. Keke alleges that she earned below minimum wage whilst working on two productions for the Fergusons at the same time. Apart from being fired mid-season Keke says that she has not received the full payment agreed on her contract. Keke was not the only one to lend support to Ndara with actors such as Rami Chuene, Anga ‘Naak Musiq’ Makhibalo, Sello Maake ka-Ncube and Florence Masebe. Mphuthi further alleges that she has a 28 minute recording of a meeting whereby the production team laid out conditions for her stay rather than being fired. She also says that she has had surprise scans and medical tests which she felt were quite intrusive. In addition Mphuthi says that the Fergusons attempted to get her blacklisted. All this she says, almost caused her to miscarriage. She has received a lot of support from some of her peers and fans.
The Fergusons through a lengthy statement issued by their lawyer Brendon de Kooker, hit back at Mphuthi’s allegations, labelling them slanderous and false.
“There have been other slanderous and false allegations made by Ms Dieketseng Mphuthi and Mr Katlego Malele, which are being addressed separately by our legal team,” read the statement.
All this drama is said to have jeopardised Keke’s role on 1Magic’s Unmarried.
