The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage has issued a statement on reports that Kazembe Kazembe was involved in a car accident.
The reports alleged that Kazembe was involved in a car accident which claimed the life of his unnamed driver.
In a statement on Wednesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage dismissed the report as false.
The Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage said, “Our attention has been drawn to false social media reports purporting that the Honourable Minister, Kazembe Kazembe was earlier on involved in a traffic accident, which reportedly, claimed the life of his unnamed driver. To the contrary, neither Minister Kazembe Kazembe nor his driver, were involved in any accident today. The Minister remains in good health and in high spirits, having discharged his routine duties today. We urge the public to dismiss the falsehoods which, evidently border on pure mischief for ulterior motives.”
The reports that Kazembe Kazembe come at a time when First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa was involved in another accident as the Toyota Landcruiser vehicle she was in overturned along the Harare Bindura highway.
Reports indicate that Auxillia survived the accident and was rushed back to Harare a few minutes after the accident.
George Charamba, the spokesman for the presidency, told ZimLive: “I can confirm the first lady was involved in an accident on the road to Mazowe. It would appear a motorist driving towards Harare panicked on meeting the convoy and rammed into the first lady’s vehicle on the driver’s side. Her vehicle overturned but she’s fine, and so is her driver.”
Motorists who attended the scene revealed the first lady’s convoy drove aggressively past them before crashing into an oncoming vehicle a few moments later.
