Kagiso, The Queen, (Loyiso MacDonald):“Why I’m an atheist is simply because I am not convinced that it’s true.”
The Queen actor Loyiso MacDonald who plays Kagiso, gave fans a front-row seat into the private and most personal parts of his life, including his divorce and why he’s an atheist.
Always one to keep mum about his personal life, Loyiso delighted fans as they got to know him more intimately in a recent interview.
In a recent podcast the actor spoke with no censure about his life before the fame, including the fact that he was abused when he was little and that he is a divorcee.
At 24, Loyiso married a musician named Luphiwo (formerly Mathunzi), whom he said was 22 at the time. He opened up about how they broke up in 2016 when they were both still trying to figure things out.
Loyiso MacDonald and Religion
When it came to his lack of belief in God, Loyiso said it was simple for him, he just doesn’t believe anything about God is true.
“Why I’m an atheist is simply because I am not convinced that it’s true.”
This was not the first time the actor opened up about his lack of belief in God. Back in 2019, after comments made in the Timothy Omotoso’s rape trial, Loyiso engaged a tweep about his stance as an atheist. Loyiso reposted the quote and got into a discussion with followers who tried to show him the “error” of his ways. That’s when he explained what being an atheist meant to him and why he chose that path.
“I don’t hate religion. I simply lack belief, that is what atheism is. I’m an atheist so I don’t believe in holy books. I’m not sure I understand the second part of your question. We believe all sorts of things, remove the book altogether and start saying for yourself I say. It takes more work but is ultimately rewarding,” he said.
