Just In: National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) dismisses DJ Fresh and Euphonik’s case against rape victim
The two celebrated DJ’s once made all sorts of headlines when they were plagued in a nasty rape scandal that saw them trending for the wrong reasons. However in the wake of the daring allegations the two DJ’s pressed charges against their rape victim citing defamation of character.
In the mix of things, it seems as if the NPA is having none of it as it recently dismissed the case. Yes the NPA has dismissed the case of crimen injuria opened by Thato “DJ Fresh” Sikwane and DJ Themba “Euphonik” Nkosi in April against an alleged rape victim known on Twitter as Nampree.
NPA spokesperson Lumka Mahanjana has it that they had decided not to prosecute the charge of criminal defamation as they believe there would no possibility of a successful prosecution.
“The NPA can confirm a decision not to institute prosecution based on charges of criminal defamation was taken. The NPA is of the view there are no prospects of a successful criminal prosecution.“The attorneys have been informed accordingly.”
However, it was recently reported that Rape charges were laid against DJ Fresh and Euphonik. The year began on a horrible note for DJ Fresh and Euphonik when a young lady who goes by the handle @Namapree took to Twitter with allegations that they had gang-raped her and three friends.

The young lady has officially placed rape charges against the music duo. Gauteng police have confirmed that a formal case has been opened AT Sunnyside in regards to rape and the duo. The lady whose name has been withheld alleges that she attended a chill with a friend who had been invited by one of the DJs.
The lady claims they were drugged alongside 2 other girls. While she is not sure who raped her, she alleges that one or both of them raped her. All this happened in 2011 when she was in her second year. DJ Fresh responded to the allegations in a statement.
“I am aware that assertions have been made about me on social media and I understand that this is often the price of being in the public eye. The fact that these claims are untrue and from an unknown source does not make them less hurtful.
“Furthermore, I am deeply concerned that spurious allegations about GBV, especially as it is one of the most significant societal challenges in South Africa, undermine the gravity of legitimate incidents, and impact the urgency with which they are attended,” DJ Fresh said.
