Junior Singo: Generations The Legacy actor Mpho’s age shocks Mzansi.
South African actor Junior Singo currently plays the role of Mpho Phakade on Generations The Legacy SABC 1 soapie. Junior Singo first appeared on our screens at the tender age of twelve and is one of a few child stars still active in the industry. Mpho has never successfully gotten elder people roles, the ones he regards as challenging due to his physique. His height and baby face keep on attracting teenager roles on soapies.
Unlike many former child stars, Junior Singo 32 has never had even to shake off that label from peoples minds.
But he does, however, have an issue he’s battling with as an actor – his physique and looks are standing in the way of him getting what he regards as -sophisticated roles”.
The actor says he’s struggling to get the roles he desires because he’s short and looks way younger than his age. He explains, “It has always been an issue because I look very young, and I want grown-up roles.”
Junior, who now portrays Mpho on SABC 1’s Generations The Legacy, says he’s happy when casting agencies focus co his talent rather than his looks.
‘Sometimes they overlook the physique and focus on the talent,” he explains.
On Generations The Legacy, Mpho joined as a homeless teen involved in petty crime to survive. He got adopted by Tshidi and ex-husband gangster Kumkani Phakade, known for being streetsmart; Mpho hustled his way to put food on his table and a roof on top of his head.
Junior Singo grew within the Generations storyline and is now a police apprentice under the watchful eye of Detective Dali Malinga. He is currently performing something in line with his age, but still, he is regarded as a boy than a man he is.
In real life, Junior Singo was born in Chiawelo, Soweto, in 1989; he is the father to daughter Ayamah he frequently flaunts on social media.
