Junior Khanye, who is now a football analyst on the popular YouTube podcast, iDiski TV, shared some pictures on social media where he is seen with his friend and former Mamelodi Sundowns star Lerato Chabangu. Khanye said he went to Thembisa to visit his “brother from another mother.”
“Junior khanye and Lerato chabangu… today in Thembisa went to visit my brother from another mother,” he wrote. Chabangu, who has unofficially retired from football, is no longer the same player he used to be.
Chabangu was one of the best right wingers in South Africa. He played for Moroka Swallows and was nicknamed “All You Need Is Love”. However, he lost his beautiful home in Boksburg and his car due to his lifestyle choices. He also moved out of his luxury apartment in Midrand and went back to his grandmother’s house in Tembisa. He told SowetanLIVE in 2017 that he wasted his money on useless things because he had a steady income.

“I blew all my money on useless things because I was always guaranteed a salary the following month,” Chabangu said. The midfielder also said that he separated from his wife because of financial issues and he did not see his daughter anymore.
“I have made many mistakes in my life and I feel I have learned my lessons. Things are tough and I am not the kind of person who likes to beg.
“I have nothing left. Football is all I know and I hope there’s someone out there who can give me another chance.” Khanye’s photos with Chabangu did not go down well with some South African football fans, who accused him of exploiting his friend’s situation.
“You went there to flex bro. It was unnecessary of you to post these photos, they are not encouraging. You should have kept them in gallery. So you want us to compliment you with your nice suits while Lerato is looking like this. Ayi brother you can do better. This is not brother love,” one user commented.
“Was it necessary to post him though,” another user asked.
While another user said: “You want people to praise you for doing this really. You don’t have to seek validation and praise at the expense of this guy.”
