Judgement day for Suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule
Suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule will today know if he will resume his responsibilities or whether the Joburg High Court has upheld his suspension.
This was announced by the judiciary on Thursday night.
“Members of the media are advised that judgement will be handed down for the matter, “Elias Sekgobelo Magashule vs Cyril Ramaphosa & 2 others (case number: 2021/23795), On 9 July 2021 by the Gauteng Division of the High Court, Johannesburg,” a note from the judiciary said, before adding that the judgement will be handed down virtually at 10 am.
Magashule was suspended by the ANC on May 5, following a special meeting of the organisation’s NEC. In an unprecedented move, the former Free State premier later issued a letter in which he singlehandedly – and without consultation with the party’s other executives – sought to suspend Ramaphosa. He has asked the court to set aside his suspension and uphold that of Ramaphosa.
However, it was recently reported that Unapologetic Ace Magashule takes ANC head-on. Well from playing chase to boxing now it seems as if Ace Magashule has taken ANC head-on after dragging the ruling party to court. We can all agree ANC has been trending after its functional wars spilt to the public. It seems as if Mzansi now need a reality show from the party.
Judgement day for Suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule
A few hours after being served some suspension letters Ace Magashule suspended party president Ramaphosa. We all thought the drama was behind us but guess we were all wrong.
Suspended ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule has gone to the South Gauteng High Court to challenge his suspension and order from the African National Congress national executive committee (NEC) to apologise to the party for an unwarranted suspension letter against President Cyril Ramaphosa.
However, Ramaphosa announced the NEC decision ordering Magashule to apologise to the ANC, failing which he could face disciplinary action.
“The ANC step aside rule 25.70 of the ANC constitution to be unlawful, unconstitutional, invalid and null. The suspension letter issued by ANC Deputy Secretary-General Jessie Duarte suspending him to be null/void, the suspension by Magashule to be valid and effective until lawfully nullified and the instruction announced by Ramaphosa and the ANC for Magashule to apologize for issuing the suspension letter to Ramaphosa to be unlawful.,” stated the court papers.
“Setting aside or uplifting the suspension of Magashule from his position as ANC secretary-general and any other position he held. Ordering any respondent who opposes this application to pay costs,” said the papers.
