Job Sikhala finally set free on bail
A High Court Judge Justice Tawanda Chitapi finally set Job Sikhala free on bail. The MDC-A Vice Chairperson will go home today. Job SIkhala had spent 20 days in prison. His Lawyer Paida Saurombe confirms his release to ZimLive.
“Unfortunately, he will not be going home tonight because the order could not be processed. The judgement was handed down late. Mr SIkhala will only be released tomorrow(Tuesday), Saurombe said last night.
“The granting of the bail to Mr SIkhala by the High Court yet again vindicates our position that magistrates’ court misdirected itself by denying him bail on the basis that he has propensity to commit offenses. The bail regime has statutory requirements which the lower courts played lip service to, hence the High Court overturned the decision and granted him bail,” Paida Saurombe adds.

MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere and journalist Hopewell Chin’ono face similar charges of peddling falsehoods prejudicial to the State after sharing a video on social media. In the video a police officer faces accussations of killing a baby with a baton stick while enforcing the lockdown regulations.
