Popular actress Jessica Nkosi has left Isibaya to join The Queen after six years on the soap’s set as she moves to expand her territory as an actress.
Jessica said it was hard for her to leave her role as Qondi but she has always wanted to explore other roles.
“I really do not like to be typecast and this is how we evolve as actors,” she said.
Isibaya producers, Ferguson Films last weeks publicized that Jessica and experienced actor Menzi Ngubane were joining Mzansi Magic’s The Queen.
“I am going to give my all to this character, it is very exciting,” Jessica said.
She said Isibaya had been very supportive of her choice and they have encouraged her to grow and see the sights of other roles.
Jessica will feature as Lerato Sebata in The Queen and has assured viewers that Lerato will be a different character to Qondi.
The actress has not yet started shooting her scenes but said she has been in contact with the production team on a daily basis and was receiving updates on her character and the story.
“Lerato is like no other character I have played before, which is beautifully challenging, but, at the same time, I am so nervous. But I try to understand her character biography and family background more every day,” said Jessica.
Owned by a power couple, Connie and Shona Ferguson, Ferguson Films has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately.
The firm has been suspected of firing actors, the latest being Dineo Langa.
Today, in an interview on Azania Mosaka’s show on Radio 702, Connie Ferguson set the record straight that they do not just hire and fire actors.
“We do not fire actors, I do not like that word. Sometimes actors come, sometimes actors leave of their own accord,” she said.
When asked on whether she has any fears about being fired from The Queen, Jessica said she did not want to entertain such hearsay.
“Being fired is the last thing on my mind. I cannot live in fear, otherwise I will not do my best as a storyteller. In the coming months, viewers should look forward to seeing Lerato. I am playing a personality type I have not played before. I cannot wait to surprise the viewers,” she said.
