Jackal Mkhondo From The Queen Actor Peter Mashigo In Car Accident
The Queen actor Peter Mashigo who portrays the character of Jackal Mkhondo was involved in a car accident that almost claimed his life.
According to sources who spoke to a local publication, Mashigo was travelling to Benoni in the company of three other passengers last week Saturday. The source said Mashigo was the only one injured in the head-on collision. His friends did not sustain any injuries.
Mashigo and his friends were on their way to a friend’s party from Pretoria. After the accident, he was rushed to Sunshine private hospital in Benoni where sources say he is in a critical but stable condition. A car that was overtaking bumped into Mashigo’s car head-on.
Mashingi has been unable to shoot any scenes on The Queen for a week as a result of the accident. A member of the telenovela’s production team said producers are now considering incorporating Mashigo’s accident into The Queen’s storyline to avoid further delays in production.
When contacted for comment, The Queen show-runner Lauren Nell said they are looking forward to having Mashigo back on set. He wished him a speedy recovery.
Mashigo is a veteran actor who has appeared in various television productions. Some of his memorable appearances were in Gomora, Gold Diggers, and The Herd. He is well known for the character Pastor Tlhong on Ga Re Dumel.
Peter Mashigo joined The Queen this year but his hiring by the Fergusons was met with criticism. Earlier in the year, a video of Mashigo assaulting a woman went viral. His casting by the Fergusons was interpreted by a section of South Africans as an approval of his abusive behaviour.
The irony is that the Fergusons fired Mashigo from one of their productions, The Throne, following allegations he had physically abused a woman.
