In a bid to educate butchers on how to clean their meat for the excellent health of their customers’ teeth, she travels cross-country.

Her acting career is influenced by her granddaughter, Noluthando Maleka, who plays Dudu on Yizo Yizo. “When Noluthando went to her first audition for a Stork margarine advert, she was three years old, and I remember accompanying her. I never wanted to be an actress; I knew nothing about acting,” she says.

“When I went with her to the set of Soul City, the director asked me if I could do apart for them. I didn’t hesitate, I did it, and they liked it,” she says. Ivy lands the part on Soul City, playing the grandmother of a patient, and the rest is history.
