Italy’s record death toll
The number of covid-19 deaths in Italy have now crossed the 900 mark. The death toll is a record. Previously the record number of deaths in a country were at 793 in the same country.
Indeed Italy is facing its worst crisis since the World War II as prime Minister suggested.
Elsewhere in the world
The United States of America now has the highest number of coronavirus infections in the world. The number of infections in the US have surpassed that of China where it started late in 2019. The Unite States becomes the new epicentre of coronavirus. 94,238 have been infected in the United States followed by 86,498 in Italy and 81,782 in China.
Prominent people test positive to coronavirus
In the UK, Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Health Minister Hancock announced they had both tested positive for the new coronavirus.
Spain recorded 769 new deaths in a daily, bringing the total number to 4,858.
