Isithembiso actress and MTv host, Farieda Metsileng also known as Pharoahfi has been announced as Bettina in the upcoming SABC 1 series, UBettina Wethu.
The actress who played Candy in the popular Mzansi Magic show, Isithembiso has just bagged one of her biggest roles on TV. “Finally it’s out. Thank you to everyone for the congratulatory messages. I am so excited!” Pharoahfi said on Twitter celebrating UBettina Wethu. The show is a franchise of the American show Ugly Betty. The show has been franchised multiple times across the world. However, Pharoahfi will be the first black Betty to grace the show franchise.
Bettina is described as “a wholesome, intelligent, but gawky, people-pleaser with a dated, unsophisticated sense of style, who finds her self worth and image challenged when she is employed at Nubia- a brand management company, a place where at times people value image over substance.”

UBettina Wethu will air on SABC 1 and Viu every Monday to Wednesday at 7,30pm beginning on the 5th of April.

Also joining Pharoahfi on the show is Lesego Thlabi, popularly known as Coconut Kelz. The actress announced having been fat shamed while going on a fitting for a show she would appear on. It turns out the show is UBettina Wethu. Producers of the show announced at the show’s official launch that the character of Zaza was inspired by Lesego Thlabi and how she dealt with body image and politics issues on social media.
Tsholofelo Mashishi will play Linda Jiyane while Zweli Dube plays Dingaan Jiyane. Reason, the rapper also bagged a role on the show as well as Soso Rungqu and Brighton Ngoma.
