Ishmauel Songo is a South African actor who is best known for his role as Sabelo on Rhythm City. The 25 year old actor has brought to life one of the most multi faceted characters on screen, Sabelo. Sabelo grew from being a gangsta and joining underworld gangs to being a responsible (sort of) young man. In the soapie, the death of his sister from a fire started by a gang he was part of that is led by Chicken shook him into the responsible young man that he is. Just like in the soapie, Ishamuel is happily in love. He makes no secret of his woman and posts her pretty often. His real life “queen of London” is known as Mbali. The couple are very much smitten!
Ishmauel is very much a family guy. While in the soapie Sabelo has had to protect his siblings at all costs, Ishmauel’s family includes two beautiful daughters.
The actor also doubles as an MC. Ishmauel hosts a lot of events. Don’t be so surprised next time you walk into groove and find him holding the mic!
Ishmael joined the entertainment industry at a very young age. We hope you noticed him but the actor did feature in the acclaimed movie, Tsotsi.
Ishmauel’s journey with the etv soapie, Rhythm City started when he auditioned for the role of Emmanuel. Unfortunately (or fortunate enough) he didn’t quite meet the criteria and did not get the role. Later on when Rhythm City was auditioning for Sabelo, Ishmauel stepped up and that was the beginning of a journey we all enjoy!
Like many other actors, Rhythm City’s Sabelo has an educational background. He studied with the AFDA and graduated.
