In Pictures: Real Life Facts about Wiseman Mncube Sbonelo from Uzalo
Actor and artist Wiseman Mncube rose to fame by playing the role of Sbonelo (Babo) Mhlongo on SABC 1 soapie Uzalo. Sbonelo character on Uzalo was a medical doctor who resigned after secretly killing Nsizwa; he is the biological son of Nkunzi and Gabisile. Over the storyline, Sbonelo married two wives and later divorced both of them. He traded the stethoscope for criminal life, from taking over his father’s criminal syndicate to jewellery and drug heists, Babo has done it all.
Wiseman is a man of multiple talents; if he is not on the Uzalo cast planning for his next heist move, he will be in the studio making music or somewhere in the community doing development and social work.
In real life, Wiseman is an academic as Sibonelo is; he graduated with a Diploma in Drama and Film production from the Durban University of Technology in 2011.
On Uzalo, Sibonelo values family, so as Wiseman, he is a father of two in real life. He raised his first daughter Lwandle Mncube as a single father after the death of her mother.
“I made a promise that I’ll do everything in my power to raise Lwandle in a godly and responsible way. I don’t want her to feel that she has one parent. I give her all the love and make it a point to spend my free time with her.”
Over the years, Wiseman played various roles on our screens; his debut role was on etv series The Kingdom, where he played Mfanufikile. He made a brief appearance on Generations as Skhalo and on eHostela as Jama.
