In Pictures: Real Life facts about “Mzwandile Gumede” Vusi from Uzalo
Mzwandile Gumede is a South Africa actor who plays the role of Vusi on Uzalo. The Vusi role is characterized by an ambitious and tech-savvy teenager who works as a graphic designer and photographer.
Vusi debuted on Uzalo as an uneducated friend of Phelelani; he grew within the storyline. He rose to fame when he was hired by embattled Pastor Mbatha, who planned to fight Pastor Gwala as the head pastor of Kwamashu Kingdom Church.
The duo’s relationship turned sour when Mbatha refused to pay Vusi for his services as previously agreed to lead to the famous expose’. Vusi stormed into the Kwamashu Kingdom Church while Mbatha was trying to please congregates with his fake USA and TD Jakes story. He took the mic and started to testify, showing on the slide screen that Mbatha was arrested in the USA for using fake details, that he never met Bishop TD Jakes as he claims. Unlike any other Uzalo cast member in Real life, Mzwandile is not qualified as an actor, proof that his acting prowess is natural. He became viral on Uzalo when he put himself in harm’s way trying to prevent his friend Phelelani from being abducted, known as “The Gusheshe Scene.” The two are friends off-screen, and both stay in KwaMashu.
He revealed that doors had been shut in his face before, Vusi auditioned for Generations The Legacy before joining Uzalo.
“Being rejected created the person I am today; I have mastered the art of perfection and dedication, rejection taught me to appreciate the small gestures that’s why I am grateful to Stained Glass Productions for the Uzalo role. It’s a dream come true to share scenes with legendary actors who I always look up to.”
Mzwandile is currently studying for a degree in Drama and Creative Arts to advance his interest in film directing.
