While the footwear maker is yet to announce the value of the deal and Makhadzi’s specific role and earnings in the partnership, the singer revealed the deal is worth a whopping R120 million.
‘I am happy to announce that I have signed an R120 million MEGA deal called Kokovha with Kick Sportswear to develop and create amazing products that will reflect everything I am and believe in,’ Makhadzi wrote.
‘Join me on this journey as I’ll be sharing more about this deal in the upcoming weeks.’
She also took an opportunity to thank her management and Kicks owner for enabling her to make history.
‘Shout out to the founder of Kicks @Sammymhaule for believing in me, @alfadestinycommunications, as well as @openmicprodsa, @africori for being the cornerstone of this deal and choosing me to recreate history, Ndialivhuwa Nga Mandah,’ she concluded.
Fresh from performing in Malawi at a music festival held in Salima District, the Matorokisi singer is back in the country and doing serious business.
Hints about Kokovha sports shoe
Makhadzi hinted about the good news a few days ago. She posted on Instagram that naming her album Kokovha was one of her greatest masterpieces as it has opened doors for her. She revealed African Queen opened doors for her to perform in other African countries.
Makhadzi joins the league of shoe designers.
Makhadzi joins fellow musicians such as Cassper Nyovest and Aka to be involved in designing sports shoes. Cassper Nyovest partnered with Drip South Africa to create and market Root of Fame ‘RF990’ sneaker earlier this year, and the rapper seems to be doing well.
Aka designed the Reebok Super Mega sneaker and marketed it despite not earning money from its sales. The relationship with Reebok did not end well as Aka revealed he was not paid anything to design the shoe despite its popularity.
