Gomora actress Sannah Mchunu who plays the role of Zodwa on the Mzansi Magic telenovela, gets Mzansi talking after claiming to have spent a night with umlungu. Zodwa insinuated that she spent the whole night speaking English hence developed tonsils; in the post, she posted Images with a white boyfriend concluding the two spent the night together. Sannah Mchunu opens up about failed marriage.
Sannah Mchunu (49) had children at a tender age; she had her firstborn at 14 years; by 19, she already had two children. Zodwa refused to finish school against her parents’ will because her younger sister was a grade ahead of her.
After her parents died, she already had four children and decided to stay with the father of her youngest child; however, he became abusive when Sannah was pregnant with the fifth child. Despite all the adversaries and Gender-Based Violence experienced, Sannah left the marriage and returned home, becoming an actress by accident.
How did Sannah become an actress?
In most cases, education is key to success, but Sannah Mchunu’s acting journey had luck all over; she landed her first acting job by coincidence.
She revealed that she had accompanied her friend Winnie Khumalo (South African singer, songwriter and actor) for auditions. Sannah had to queue on behalf of Winnie, who was busy with something else and was called in by the film directors when she reached the office door, and the rest is history.
“All I wanted to be is a cleaner and feed my children; for the acting talent, I thank those who gave me my first chance and Winnie for making it happen. I regret a lot in my life, but acting brought back lost hope, and I wish to motivate young girls who are going through the same in life.”
Sannah Mchunu on playing Zodwa on Gomora
On Gomora, Sannah plays Zodwa, a reformed alcoholic who lives with her son Teddy (Sicelo Buthelezi) and stepdaughter Sibongile. She shot her baby daddy Don (Israel Matseke Zulu) and is dating businessman Bongani, famous for providing Zodwa with groceries; all fancy presents hence nicknamed Bongani wama groceries.
Popular among Gomora fans for speaking in broken English, Mzansi urged Zodwa to spend more nights with umlungu to practice grammar.
