In July 2021, Rhythm City got cancelled after 14 years of airing on eTV and in its place House of Zwide debuted as a hit fashion show. Throughout the year, viewers of the show have had a love-hate relationship with the storyline as it kept dragging on and on. However, that did not stop them from voting for House of Zwide in their huge numbers for four awards at the SAFTAs in last night’s show.
House of Zwide managed to scoop four awards at the SAFTAs in just its first year of production. It has all its behind-the-scenes crew to thank for it. Below are the awards that House of Zwide got at the awards show:

Recent achievements for House of Zwide
The drama series recently got third place on viewership for the month of July dethroning Generations The Legacy. The soapie landed third place with a 4.9 million viewership for the whole month. This was mainly because the first season of the show came in the month of July and with it, the biggest secret of the show was discovered.
The House of Zwide storyline
The story told in House of Zwide follows the story of a young girl who gets a job as a design intern in her biological father’s company by chance. This makes threatens to break families as Ona grew up believing the man who kidnapped her was her real dad. Her biological father believed his little girl died in a fire twenty years ago. However, the two were creative geniuses and at one point designed the same dress. This led people to question how they did it.
The truth was discovered by Funani when he stole Ona’s DNA. This was after Nkosi his son remembered Isaac took Ona on the night of the fire. This leads to the arrest of Faith and Isaac who have been in cahoots to keep their dirty little secret. In between, there is also a lot going on around them like the internship competition, relationships and love.
Being a fashion show it is understandable that their wardrobe will be one of the best in South African television history. Their lead actress Nefisa Mkhabela who plays Ona has rocked hairstyles that have inspired many young girls as well as her clothes on the show.
