In Pictures: Gomora actor ‘Teddy’ Sicelo Buthelezi’s age shocks Mzansi
Sicelo Buthelezi plays the character of Teddy, full name Sibusiso Zondo on Gomora. On Mzansi Magic drama series Gomora, Teddy is a school going teenager and son to Zodwa Zondo – the role played by Sanah Mchunu. Teddy’s mother, Zodwa, was an alcoholic to the extent that he was born with fetal alcohol syndrome, which affected his capacity to grasp things quickly.
He is a slow learner who has encountered a lot in his life. At a tender age, Teddy was rescued from his alcoholic mother and adopted by his friend Ntokozo’s parents, Melusi and Gladys.
Over the storyline, Teddy is a victim of male rape; he got raped by Ms Manzi, a young and attractive school teacher, an ordeal he struggles to move on.
On Gomora, Teddy and his mother have a close relationship; he got united by his estranged half-sister Sibongile Buthelezi –the role played by Nandipa Khubone
The two practically run Zodwa’s life; they ganged up with their father, Don Buthelezi (played by Israel Matseke-Zulu), to chase Bongani out and pave the way for Don to return.

Gomora fans expected Teddy to be a teenager in real life by playing a school-going teenager role, baby face and stature. Sicelo is not young anymore; he was born on 20 March 1985 in Tembisa, Joburg, a way older than his teenager Teddy Gomora character. He hogged the headlines when he flaunted his romantic relationship with singer and actress Ntando Duma on social media.
Over his short acting career, Sicelo made his major television breakthrough with the Teddy role on Gomora; he subsequently won the Outstanding Newcomer award at the 2020 Royalty Soapie Awards.
The multi-talented Sicelo is also an established music composer and performer, though his musical career is yet to bloom to match the acting journey. Teddy secured bookings to perform on the biggest stages and has shared the stage with top artists like Black Coffee, Cassper Nyovest, Master KG and Makhadzi.
