In Pictures, Generations The Legacy, actress Oby Abudu ‘Khabonina Qubeka’ returns; her real-life occupation revealed
Generations The Legacy actress Khabonina Qubeka who plays the role of Oby Abudu on the SABC 1 soapie, returns to shake things in the storyline. Having been on a hiatus from the screens to focus on her farming project and yoga career, Generations fans expect Oby to take from where she left.
She debuted on Generations The Legacy as a cannibal diplomat married to gangster Kumkani “Gadaffi” Phakade (Vuyo Dabula). Generations made history the first soapie to introduce cannibalism in the South African filming industry. Oby was involved in black magic and witchcraft and thus survived on the human liver, which was sourced by her husband.
The couple was involved in a marriage of convenience as Gadaffi sought immunity from police incarceration and unleashed terror in the town. Oby’s mission was to avenge the death of her brother, Nigerian thug Jonathan Okere who was killed by Ayanda.
Her powers were taken away after she was trapped to eat an affected liver; as a result, Kumkani was freed from her evil spell.
Why did Oby return on Generations?
Though her husband left the country to live in Paris, Oby returned to occupy Gadaffi’s apartment. Zondiwe revealed that she received a call from Kumkani with instructions to clean and prepare his apartment for some special, ‘his estranged wife.’ Will she return as the evil Oby, or she has reformed? Only time will reveal her intentions.
Reasons why Khabonina Qubeka left Generations The Legacy
The actress revealed that she briefly featured on Generations The Legacy to test a new character ever to exist in the South African filming industry. After receiving positive reviews from the witchcraft and black voodoo storyline, Khabonina took a hiatus to focus on her career as a yoga trainer.
She is a farmer in real life.
Despite being a celebrated actress, Khabonina is a livestock farmer; she owns a cattle ranch farm where she breeds the local Nguni breed.
