She took home a lot of money when she won Miss South Africa in 1994. Since retiring, he ventured into business full time and she is the president of the Business Woman’s Association.
The beauty queen is also a board member of Unipalm Investment Holdings, Vhangana Energy Resouces, Tactic Group Limited, SME Financial Holdings Limited, Morongwa Investment Holdings, Seven Falls, Q2 Petroleum and PHAB Holdings.
She is also into fashion with her brand name Bassie. Under Bassie, she launched a ladies’ clothing range in 2000 that Ackerman’s department stores distributed. She also introduced the eyewear range under Torga Optical. She founded the Bassie Red Cosmetics text range sold in the Foschini stores.
Basetsana also earns a significant amount through other endorsements, such as the Revlon Realistic Hair Care range and BriteSmile. She also hosted several shows on Television, such as the Top Billing Show and Pasella on SABC.

In her memoir, Bassie: My Journey of Hope, Basetsana spoke of her business journey. The businesswoman’s journey had not been easy. She had to work extremely hard to overcome her trials and challenges to see the success she has today. Basetsana spoke of her business mindset, saying, “Entrepreneurship runs in my veins, I was raised by parents who were hustlers, and they taught me to work hard and be my boss.”.
She spoke about the importance of mentorship in business and said, “I’ve always encouraged people to have mentorship in any field of business. This is because l have stood on the shoulders of giants, such as the late Ubabmadiba and MAMA Graca Machel. They both contributed so much to my success, and this is the reason why l mentor young people.”
