DJ Zinhle was born in KwaZulu-Natal in 1983. She grew up aspiring to be a Television presenter, but her brother’s love for mixing grew on her. Her big break came when she landed the gig as the resident DJ on Jika majika, a dance show that aired on SABC 1. Zinhle’s Hit single My name is featuring Busiswa made her an international star. Her 2019 single Umlili was voted song of the year and was certified 3x platinum by the Recording Industry of South Africa.
Besides being an award-winning DJ and producer, she has her hand in other industry sectors as well. She has a role as an actress in several productions. In 2011 she landed a role-playing Thuli in ekasi: Our stories in an episode called Imfihlo The Secret and Rhythm City gave her a role as Faniswa. DJ Zinhle is a force to be reckoned with in the business world. She started her hairline called Hair Majesty, a name derived from her nickname Her Majesty. She started selling hair online and grew the shop till it was a physical shop in several provinces in South Africa. As if that was not enough she began her jewellery line called era by DJ Zinhle. The line sells earrings, necklaces and sunglasses. These two businesses have seen her become one of the wealthiest female DJs in Mzansi.
In 2009 Zinhle co-founded the Firm Understanding of Sound Entertainment Academy (FUSE) with Nomdeni Mdaki. The school is for aspiring female DJs. It is based in Johannesburg in Newtown.
