Undoubtedly, the 2022 South African Music Awards are making all sorts of headlines for the wrong reasons. In the mix of things, African Queen Makhadzi has put to blast the awards after they deliberately sabotaged her. Despite being known as one of the best performing acts in Africa and the world, everyone was awestruck by her disappointing performance at the SAMAs.
Mzansi was more than convinced that she was unwanted at the awards, but they had to tag her along due to her influence. Of late she has had several snubs that have spilt into social media wars. In the backdrop of what seemed to be more than an embarrassing performance that took a toll on her illustrious career, Makhadzi took it to Twitter to address what seemed to be complete sabotage.
In now-deleted tweets, Makhazi revealed that she was done with the SAMAs. She revealed that they did not allow her to rehearse appropriately, revealing that she used her cell phone. She went on a rant, explaining what had happened.
“I rehearsed with a cellphone on the stage to get my choreography. I asked to rehearse with the camera guys so they can read my moves no one listened to me. I asked for smokes and fireworks they promised but never delivered. But I remained a queen.”

However, Makhadzi went on to take a swipe and revealed that he was distancing herself from the SAMAs and now shifting focus on making music for her fans only.
“The award I got was my blessing from my ancestors I am sure the person who changed the name will be fired tomorrow. I don’t want summer (SAMA) awards anymore. I want to do my music for YouTube, so my fans can buy data and support me without favour. “

However, she did not delete one tweet. In the very same tweet, she was exposing the SAMAs for giving others ample time to rehearse, alleging that she was only given 5 minutes. She also said they wanted her to do their choreography and not hers.
“The problem started when I decline their choreography because I always want to perform with my own dancers. But the most important thing is how can you let me rehearse 5 minutes where others were given unlimited time. rehearsing with a cellphone in front of the band,” she wrote.
