‘I no longer have to carry a monkey on my back,’ Former DA MP Phumzile Van Damme breathes a sigh of relief
Former DA MP Phumzile Van Damme resigned yesterday and is leaving the party as well. Taking to her twitter account she posted a statement many think implies a lot and only time will tell. The former MP posted saying,
“You know that feeling of relief of no longer having to carry a monkey on your back? That feeling.”
This statement means that Phumzile was carrying a burden she was failing to get rid of and now she is relieved she no longer has to suffer from the burden. This has left many South Africans wondering what really happened in the party worse their main rival the ANC has started with its campaigns.

Many are applauding her for resigning and think it is all because she has a degree and was led by someone with a Matric qualification. Here are the comments to her relief statement,
“You need to tell us what exactly happened, other than that there is no way we can be able to support you usaboyika kanje ababelungu bakho Phumzile you need to expose them.”
“Just imagine being led by a Matric with your degree. I would resign too. That’s just unbearable.”
“This statement is like a Bible verse; “deep in meaning with so many interpretations.””
“I can imagine. It was really hard trying to make us believe that all is well that side. Good decision my dear, you’re FREE AT LAST.”
However, in her letter of resignation the former MP says she will not conduct any interviews air say anything negative about her former party. She also says that if the party decides to tarnish her reputation, she will not be forced to say anything bad about the party.
