Zolisa Xaluva reflects on the late actor and producer Shona Ferguson’s advice to handle hate. Zolisa and Shona were onscreen brothers who nailed their brotherhood characters as the Masire brothers on Kings Of Joburg. The duo played criminal brothers who would do anything to protect their family’s illegal business. Zolisa and Shona’s relationship became stronger despite being co-workers; however, their friendship ended when Shona died due to Covid 19 in 2021.
Shona’s sudden death shocked many, including his wife, actress Connie Ferguson, who never ceased celebrating his life. Well, it looks like Shona’s death also affected Zolisa Xaluva.
Zolisa Xaluva was recently invited to podcast and chill with MacG, where he opened up about his great relationship with Shona.
After sharing how Shona’s death affected him, Zolisa posted on his Twitter that he missed Shona and reflected on some of the lessons he learned from him.

Zolisa and Shona have worked together on several television productions like Rockville and The Queen. The celebrated actors also appeared in the drama series Kings Of Joburg.
Shona Ferguson on helping Zolisa Xaluva to win an acting gig on Gomora
During Zolisa’s interview at the Podcast and Chill with MacG, the award-winning actor revealed that he never auditioned for his character as Melusi on Gomora. Shona Ferguson was the one who set up the job for him, and he joined Gomora without going for auditions. In his own words, Zolisa Xaluva said:
Seriti Films called Shona Ferguson and asked him if he knew anyone who would play the character of Melusi to perfection. Shona asked them if they have contacted me and they said yes, but unfortunately, Zolisa refused to come for an audition he said he was good but we wanted to test his skills. Shona then told them point blank that l was good for that job and Seriti films allowed me to play the character of Melusi.
However, after playing Melusi for two seasons, Zolisa Xaluva decided to part ways with Gomora to explore other opportunities in the acting industry.
