Pearl Thusi received flack from Twitter, and this came after she snubbed Metro FM on a tweet that read, “One of the best things I ever did for my self-esteem and growth was to leave Metro FM. It’s one of the decisions I’m proudest of. I hope Dineo is ok.”
Pearl’s tweet came after news of Dineo Ranaka‘s suspension broke out. As most people know now, Dineo Ranaka, presenter of the show The Bridge from Metro FM, got suspended for misconduct when participating in the Umlando challenge. Her participation wasn’t the reason why she was suspended; the fact that she was dancing on top of expensive company furniture was.
Celebs get away with doing whatever they want.
Typically if an ordinary person verbally insults someone, people disassociate themselves from them. On the contrary, celebrities mostly get away with doing whatever they please. When a celebrity verbally humiliates someone, brands still work with that person despite their disrespect.
Mzansi shared their sentiments with Pearl.
Mzansi was outraged at Pearl for saying that. She was sternly reminded that rules are rules and they should be followed. South Africa told Pearl that she believes, celebrities should run away scot-free all the time due to their social status. Pearl was also reminded that when she was on Metro, she was under different management therefore, she should not paint everyone with the same brush. Pearl was also asked by numerous people, what she would’ve done if her employee was dancing on her tables. People clearly stated that misconduct is misconduct, no matter how much influence Pearl has, she has to admit that an institution’s rules should be followed.
“We didn’t know you were even on Metro.”
Of course, Mzansi Twitter has a lot of humour. Even when someone passes away, South Africans will find a joke there. It has been years since Pearl Thusi left Metro FM, it’s been so long that people don’t remember her from the station. People started joking about her time there and refused, to acknowledge she was once one of the presenters.
