Helliate Rushwaya has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC). Before the appointment Rushawaya was a non-executive director for the state broadcaster.
The announcement was made by ZBC on social media after the broadcaster’s board agreed to appoint Henrietta Rushwaya’s sister. Henrietta is known for his role in the Asiagate Scandal that rocked Zimbabwe football. She was the Chirf Executive of Zimbabwe Football Association when the national team was involved in match fixing which was later termed as Asiagate.

“The ZBC Board has resolved to second Non-Executive Director, Ms. Helliate Rushwaya, to the post of Acting CEO till a CEO is appointed in a substantive capacity. This is due to the fact that the incumbent had been serving in an acting capacity for over the recommended 6 months,” said a statement from ZBC
ZBC has been rocked by scandal after scandal mainly perpetrated by the Chief Executives. Rushwaya’s main challenge will be the digitilisation of the broadcaster which is long overdue.

Helliate Rushwaya has worked as project manager for Creative loop. She was Project Manager for the Host Broadcaster of the the Commonwealth Games 2014.
