Heavy K, also known as The Drumboss, is a multi award-winning South African DJ, Producer and songwriter. His real name is Mkhululi Siqula, and he was born in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Early Life and Education
Heavy K grew up as a disciplined kid and disliked violence and crime. He partially attended Mzimhlope Public Primary School and then completed his primary education at Emfundeni Primary School. Afterwards, he proceeded to Ndzondelelo Secondary school. Initially, Heavy K wanted to be either a doctor or scientist, but he instantly turned to music production when he walked into a recording session. Music production captured his heart and soon he taught himself how to DJ, produce and compose music.
Career
Heavy K took music production seriously and in 2006 he formed a music production group called Point 5. Subsequently, Heavy K got a chance to prove himself, and he produced Professor’s hit ‘Lento’. Soon, Oskido discovered his talent and put him in his ‘I believe’ program to equip him with skills to be a professional producer and DJ. Later on, Heavy K developed his unique sound and Oskido advised him to start his own record label. The two DJs later on co-produced the hit ‘Hoza nana’ in 2013.

Heavy K Music
In 2013 Heavy K released him debut album ‘Respect The Drumboss 2013’ which was composed of hits like ‘Umoya, Wena and ‘Drumboss’. Consequently, the album was nominated for several awards and made him famous. Next, he released his second album titled ‘Respect The Drumboss 2015’ which was packed with hits including ‘sweetie’ and ‘Easy to love’. Furthermore, the Drumboss released ‘1950’ the album in 2016 and ‘Respect the Drumboss 2018’. Heavy K also released two EPs, ‘First injection in 2014 and ‘Dancing in the sun’ in 2016.

Heavy K collaborated with a lot of top South African artists especially Mpumi and Nokwazi whom he groomed. He has also worked with Bucie , Sdudla noMa1000, Cassper Nyovest, Professor and Thulasizwe. Most importantly, Heavy K featured his baby mama, Ntombi on ‘Ndibambe’ and ‘Let them talk’. On the 31st of July 2020, Heavy K is set to drop his much awaited EP titled’KHUSTA’. He has already released ‘Uyeke’ and ‘Thatha off the EP.

The Drumboss has an expensive taste for cars. He owns several cars including a BMW M3, several Mercedes-Benz AMGs and a Maybach Benz he is often seen leaning on, in social media pictures. Most importantly, he shares his passion for cars with family, for instance, he bought his wife a car for giving birth to his first son. Similarly, he bought his father a house and gifted him a brand-new car as well.
Marriage
Heavy K is a father to two young boys which he had with ex-wife Ntombi Nguse (Drumbae) who is also an artist. In June 2020, Ntombi revealed that her relationship with Heavy K was damaged beyond their own control. She admitted to both parties having wronged each other and acknowledged the respect that still remains between the duo. Heavy K is still to comment on the issue but its evident that the couple is getting divorced. However, their fans are highly disappointed about the break up of a couple that gave them the song ‘Ndibambe’.

Heavy K Controversy
In 2019 The Drumboss was caught up in controversy where he was sued for not attending a show in Botswana. Apparently, Heavy K missed a scheduled and paid appearance worth R87000 in 2017 for the Morobosi Festival. The organizers of the annual New Year’s Eve Morobosi Festival were granted an interim order by the High Court of Botswana in Lobatse to have Siqula arrested. Clearly 2019 was a bad year for the Drumboss, from a divorce to a lawsuit.
