Revealed: Gugu Gumede ‘MaMlambo’ from Uzalo’s real age leaves Mzansi shocked
Actress Gugu Gumede plays the role of prophetess MaMlambo on Uzalo. Gugu looks away younger than the onscreen character MaMlambo; the two characters have an age disparity of more than 10 years.
Born on the 10th of December 1991, Gugu is still enjoying the last year of her twenties. Onscreen she plays the role of forty-five-year-old Hlengiwe Mlambo Mhlongo, who has had relationships with Qhabanga, Melusi and was married to Nkunzi Mhlongo.
When life hit its lowest, Hlengiwe turned into prostitution which displeased her ancestors. She lost her Sangoma powers and went outside the KwaMashu community to appease her ancestors with a cleansing ceremony. After claiming her Sangoma powers back, Hlengiwe returned to the KwaMashu community to fulfil her mission. As one of the community leaders, she helped to bring sanity to the community church.
Gugu’s acting prowess and versatility fooled Mzansi, made us believe she is an older woman, but sis is twenty-nine years old.
She was born in KwaZulu Natal to the late Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Zanele kaMagwaza-Msibi.
Moved by her desire to entertain on small screens, Gugu Gumede went to the USA to study acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles. Her breakthrough came after landing an acting role on Generations, where she played Mandisa. In 2015 she landed the Uzalo role, where she currently inspires us with the captivating storyline she plays.
Usually dressed in shabby and loose dresses to match the MaMlambo character, In real life, Gugu serves fashion goals on Instagram.
The actress is a born again Christian who belongs to the Alleluia Ministries International led by Alph Lukau.
