Leera Mthethwa, who plays the character of Ms Jackie Hlungwani, shocks many as she looks younger than her actual age. In Gomora, she is an ambitious teacher who was best friends to Gomora High Principal Melusi Dlamini. She was more of an advisor to Melusi, who later went to jail after killing Phumlani Ndaba as he defended his sweetheart Thati from the doors of death. After Melusi went to prison, Ms Jackie Hlungwani took his reigns but failed to manage the school. She was a weak acting principal, and Mr Cele replaced her, becoming the new Gomora high principal.

As of late Ms, Jackie’s character has accepted her fate that she can’t manage a school; instead, she can manage a class. She is back to her regular duties as a teacher and makes sure she does her work diligently. Her character in Gomora has placed her in the spotlight, as many love to hate her.
