Lee-Anne “Gogo Maweni” Mokopo has recently revealed that she and her husband, Sabelo Magube, are expecting twins conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF).
What is IVF?
According to Mayo Clinic, IVF is a complex series of procedures used to help with fertility or prevent genetic problems and assist with the conception of a child.
Gogo Maweni’s Family
Gogo Maweni already has three children from previous relationships. Her firstborn son is from a relationship with an unidentified American man, her second son is with actor Sthembiso Khoza, and her third child is with former soccer star Siyabonga Zulu.
The Big Reveal
The popular sangoma revealed the exciting news during an interview with DJ Sbu on The Hustlers Corner. “Soon we’re going to add two more babies on the list. We’re having twins. This was supposed to be a secret until the bump comes out,” she said.
Gogo Maweni also spoke about the IVF process and how it has allowed her and her husband to expand their family. “We work so hard, and the reason we work so hard is to be able to afford certain things. There’s IVF. You go and they take out your egg for the first month, then they take out your egg the second month, then they put it back. I went to a gynaecologist and asked to be referred for IVF and we’re here now.”
Overcoming Challenges
Despite facing public scrutiny and rumors about their marriage, Gogo Maweni and her husband remain committed to making their relationship work. In early April, they celebrated their anniversary at Zuma Restaurant and reflected on their journey together.
“Everybody said it would end in tears … The tears have been there but the end is never coming. I don’t care what social media says,” Gogo Maweni wrote. She also shared that she and her husband are currently in a good place in their relationship.
