Sicelo Buthelezi is a celebrated South African actor who stars as Teddy on Gomora. He plays the on-screen character of a bubbly 19-year-old from Gomora. However, his on-screen age and real-life age have seen him making all sorts of headlines in recent years. Despite his age being a mystery for years, he revealed his age and cleared the air during his Podcast and Chill with MacG session.
For the better half of his illustrious career that is blooming rumour mill had it that he was born in 1985. However, of interest is that he was born on the 20 March 1998. He was born and raised in Tembisa, Winnie Mandela Zone 2, Johannesburg, South Africa. He happens to be the firstborn in a family of three. Sadly he was raised by his mother. Reports have it that his father reportedly died when he was seven.

He attended Ingqayizivele High School in Temong, Tembisa, in 2017, where he majored in commercial subjects like Accounting, Business Studies and Economics. However, in the mix of things, he enrolled at the Market Theatre Laboratory in 2018 to hone his acting skills and graduated with a certificate in Theatre and Performance.

From a young age, Sicelo Buthelezi showed an interest in acting, and by the time he was in Grade 10, he had decided to pursue acting. While studying at the Market Theatre Laboratory, Sicelo Buthelezi landed on several productions, including Words Fail, Babylon: Beyond Borders, and HANI: THE LEGACY.
His first significant role on television was when he got a part on SABC1’s The Cleaner in 2018, which was part of a documentary called Now or Never. Since 2020, Sicelo Buthelezi has been playing the role of Teddy from Gomora, his most significant role on television yet. He won an Outstanding Newcomer Award at the 2020 Royalty Soapie Awards for this role.

Apart from being a celebrated actor, he also doubles as a musician. He has been making strides of late in becoming one of the finest. In recent years he has worked with some of Mzansi’s finest, the likes of Black Motion. In 2017, he was featured in Black Motion’s Deeper North track and worked with Mr Jazziq.
While he has received positive reviews from fans for his music hand, he has since gone solo. Of late, he has dropped several music projects.
