Generations: The Legacy’s Lucy Diale to disappear
Generations: The Legacy’s Lucy Diale is expected to go off-screen for a while.
Actress Manaka Ranaka (41) who portrays the character Lucy Diale on the soapie revealed that she is weeks away from welcoming a new bundle of joy into the world.
Ranaka also said the character Lucy Diale will disappear from our screens for some time as she will be on maternity leave. The actress recently became a grandmother as well when her eldest daughter, Katlego, gave birth.
She told Daily Sun that she is looking forward to being a mother although motherhood is not new to her. Ranaka has two elder daughters.
“It’s the same feeling I felt when I had my two daughters, so this experience is nothing new.”
The actress told the publication she is not aware of the baby’s gender although people hope she will have a baby boy considering that she already has two daughters. She however said she does not care whether the baby is a boy or girl as long as its human and not an animal.
“People have been saying they hope I’m carrying a boy, but we’ll see. I look forward to giving birth to a child. I don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl, as long as it’s not an animal,” she chuckled.
She revealed that she does not subscribe to the belief that boys are heirs. Ranaka said that boys and girls are equally important in the world.
“Boys and girls are equally important and have different functions in society. I don’t believe that boys are necessarily better. According to society and culture norms, they’re carriers of legacies. Girls also bring kids into this world,” said Manaka.
The actress revealed that the character Lucy Diale will disappear for a while since she will be going on maternity leave in a few weeks time. “I’m still working, but will go on leave a few weeks from now. Lucy will also be gone.”
