Fuel prices in South Africa will increase starting on Wednesday, July 1.
This was announced by Minister of Mineral Resources and Energy, Mr, Gwede Mantashe.
Petrol will increase by R1.72 a litre and diesel will increase by R1.73 the Department of Energy announced. This translates into a price of R15.12 per litre inland, and coastal regions will fork out R14.42 per litre of petrol.
Diesel users, meanwhile, will be charged R13.03 in Gauteng and R12.43 in coastal areas.
In a statement released to the media by Mantashe’s ministry, the fuel prices in South Africa were adjusted due to the rand strengthening against the dollar, increase in crude fuel prices and the increase of international prices of all refined petroleum products among other factors.

Fuel Saving Tips
- Make Fewer Trips
This can be done by planning ahead and combining all your daily errands into one big trip. Also, explore other options like public transport, carpooling, walking or riding a bike.
2. Go Easy on the Accelerator
Drive smoothly and try to maintain a steady speed. Use the gearbox sensibly, and change up through the gears as soon as practical. If you drive an automatic, ease back slightly on the accelerator once the car has gained sufficient speed. Avoid peak hour and other heavy traffic where possible.
