Former Uzalo actress Fikile ‘Nelisa Mchunu’ returns to TV with a bang
She was dupped as the next big thing to Mzansi small screens, and she lived up to the expectations. The celebrated actress proved a point with her stellar performance on Mzansi most-watched drama series, Uzalo. Nelisa Mchunu is a celebrated South African actress best known for her character of Fikile on Uzalo.
She was cast as Sbu’s girlfriend character in the drama series, played by Simphiwe Majozi. Their relationship didn’t just wow the KwaMashu community but Mzansi at large. No doubt they were that on-screen character we all love to hate.
We can all agree Uzalo hasn’t been the same without her. However, in the mix of things, their relationship turned south. She even bowed out of the hit drama series to make matters worse.

In the wake of her exit, she made all sorts of headlines when she made a guest appearance on Generations: The Legacy. She was beamed having a conversation with the then CEO Tshidi Moroka character played by Letoya Makhene. In the drama series, she was cast as a disgruntled client of Ezweni.
She hasn’t been lucky when it comes to gigs after her dramatic exit from Uzalo. However, it seems as if fortune favours the bold. The actress has bagged a lead role in a new season of Ses’Top La, set to be aired on SABC1 soon.
She will be replacing celebrated actress Busi Lurayi as Phumzile. The character is more similar to that one of Fikile. Phumzile is full of drama and never ceases to amaze.
The bubbly actress was congratulated by fellow industry mates when she let the cat out of the bag about her new gig.
However, speaking about her gig the bubbly actress was more than grateful for begging a lead role. It has always been every actor’s dream to star as a lead actor. We can’t wait for the drama capped with thrills.
