Former Rhythm City actor (David Genaro) Jamie Bartlett died
The celebrated actor Jammie Bartlett graced Mzansi’s little screens with his role as David Genaro in Rhythm City. Since then, he became a fan favourite all across the country. His acting ability, mainly as a fine gangster, ensured fans did not expect him to pass away so soon.
Jammie was spotted recently looking fit and healthy. Somizi shared his recent memories with him, saying that he had been greeting everybody at the Lifestyle Brooklyn. Indeed Jammie’s death came as a surprise to all. Mzansi is sad to lose such a talented actor, and the unanswered question remains unanswered as yet, what happened to Jammie Bartlett?
Former Rhythm City actor David Genaro (Jammie Bartlett) dies aged 55.
According to ENCA, a family member confirmed the death of the celebrated and loved actor but the death cause remained private. Jammie was born in England on 9 July 1966 before moving to South Africa, where he trained Speech and Drama at the University of Capetown. He furthered his education with studies in Theatre acting in London.
Jammie Bartlett’s successful career
Undoubtedly, his role on Rhythm City is the one that tops the charts, but Jammie appeared on other several shows and programmes in his acting career. He featured on Isdingo, where he played the role of Mike O’Riley, being one of the first actors to impress Mzansi. The England born actor also featured in an MNet movie, The Sexy Girls, a gang movie that showed the tough gangster life of Capetown. He was also a judge on SABC’s SA Got talent. In 2013 he featured in the famous film Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom alongside top actors.
Jammie Bartlett’s awards
He won several awards as a testament to his top talent on the screens. Jammie scooped The Crystal Award for Best Actor and the Avanti Television Award for Best Actor with Isidingo. He also got the South African Film & Television Award (SAFTA) for Best Actor with Rhythm City. The award winner also won other several awards besides the mentioned ones.
