Clive Barker, the former coach of the South African national football team Bafana Bafana, passed away at age 78. Barker had been battling Lewy body dementia for some time before his death. He is best known for leading Bafana Bafana to victory at the 1996 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) finals.
In a statement released by the Barker family, they expressed gratitude to the medical professionals caring for Clive during his illness.
They stated that he fought bravely and that they were relieved that he was now at peace. The family also announced that details for a memorial service will be provided soon.
