Florence Masebe shooting
On the 18th of August 1999 Florence Masebe was attacked at the front gate of her Bramley Park house in Sandton Johannesburg. Her attacker fired 41 shot at her while sitting in the car. About six to eight bullets hit her, and she crawled out of her car helplessly. It has been 21 years, and she still reflects on the horrific incident saying it reminds her that she did not die, she survived. The most painful part was gazing at her four-year-old daughter stare at her mother swimming in a pool of her own blood. However, a 22-year-old man confessed that he was a commissioned hit man hired to kill the Generations cast for which she was part of the cast at that time.

A near death by shooting is not the only incident Florence cries over, the shooting incident also reminds Florence of another tragic death of her 15 months old baby who drowned in a swimming pool in 2015. It was a horrific incident that caused much pin and suffering for Florence. To add salt to a wound, an identified woman harassed Florence accusing her of fabricating stories of her son’s death purporting that she copied the story from one of her blogs. Florence was outraged and vowed to deal with the woman when she finally catches her.

The book also strengthens mothers who have lost children tragically and gives them hope of a better life.
