Flavour is a Nigerian artist, song writer and multi instrumentalist whose music has dominated Africa and the world. His real name is Chinedu Okoli and was born on the 23rd of November 1983 . Flavour has also collaborated with best Nigerian musicians the likes of Yemi Alade and Tiwa savage. His erotic songs have captured hearts of many women. Career Beginnings

Flavour’s music career began at the age of 13 when he began playing drums for his church choir. He constantly came early for practice and left after everyone. The resident Pastor noticed his passion and introduced him to Chris I. Ordor owner of Sound City Communications. Thereafter, he was admitted into Sound City Communications on a Music Educational Scholarship.in 1999. After playing drums for three year Flavour went on to play the keyboard and provided backing vocals to musicians. Flavour adopted this stage name after admiring Flavour Shelters who was their biggest fan. In 2002  Flavour emerged unto  Nigeria’s musical scene as a drummer and pianist for a local Enugu band. Later on, Flavour received an offer to perform at City Centre, Enugu where he learned music production from Dekumzy, Isi Charles and Nnachie. 

Flavour Music

In 2005 Flavour dropped his debut self titled album N’abania which was composed of 8 tracks. The album’s lead was the title track ‘N’abania which featured Mr Raw. However, the album’s success was relative and limited to Eastern Nigeria. Thereafter, he released his much anticipated second album ‘Uplifted’ in 2010. The album was successful and made waves on various media platforms, thereby creating an International platform for Flavour. It featured the hit song ‘Nwa Baby” as well as ‘Adamma’ and ‘Oyi’ remix featuring Tiwa Savage. Moving on, Flavour dropped his third album ‘Blessed’ in 2012 at the grand opening of his Lagos club 2nite. Behind the production of ‘Blessed’ were several top Nigerian producers including Legendury Beats and E-Kelly.

In 2014 he released ‘Thankful’ the album which featured “Ololufe’ featuring Chidinma and ‘wake up’ featuring Wande Coal. Yet again, in 2017 he dropped his 5th album Ifele the Traveler which featured hit song ‘High’ featuring Semah G. Weifur, a visually-impaired young Liberian. Awele is his 6th album which featured the crowd favourite ‘Mama Africa featuring Yemi Alade. Flavour has had a successful career although his family, particularly his mother believed his dream was a pipe dream. However, he has been involved in a couple of controversies  including social media battles with fellow artist Waconzy and wizkid. In 2012 Flavour was involved in a legal battle with Ghanaian duo Wutah, over the alleged theft of “Kwarikwa”.

Although Flavour portrays himself as a lover, his real life proves he is not a loving man. Flavour revealed that he doesn’t have a girlfriend and claims music is the love of his life. However, Flavour is a father to two beautiful girls which he had with ex-girlfriends Anna Bannar and Sandra Okagbue. Besides the baby mamas, Flavour dated fellow musician Chidinma Ekile and the couple made headlines for quite a longtime. Their passionate kiss on stage after their performance of ‘Ololufe’ made waves on social media. Moreover, Flavour dated American based Beverley Heels who he allegedly proposed to her but he later denied the rumours. Flavour also dated Onyinye Onungwa who he left heart broken and went on to father children.

The philanthropy of Flavour

Flavour is a philanthropist who has assisted the poor and needy people in various African countries. In 2010 he was appointed United Nations Peace Ambassador. Ever since, Flavour has been serving individuals and families living in poverty in Nigeria, Liberia, and other parts of Africa. Moreover, Flavour established the Chinedu Okoli Foundation in 2010. The Lagos based foundation established an Educational and Empowerment platform for young people. Furthermore, during the 2016 ‘Flavour of Africa Campaign and Tour’ in 2016 he made large donations to charities in several African countries.
