First batch of the COVID-19 vaccine expected on the 15th of February: Nick Mangwana
The government spokesperson Nick Mangwana has informed the public via social media that the first batch of the COVID-19 vaccine will arrive on 15 February 2021 when the extended lockdown ends. He also confirms that the donated vaccine is the one that is arriving on the 15th of February with the purchased ones arriving during the first week of March.
“The People’s Republic of China extended a donation of 200 000 SINOPHARM Covid19 vaccine doses. The donation and initial batch purchased are expected on the 15th of February 2021 and the first week of March 2021 respectively,” Nick posted on Twitter.
The number of vaccines purchased by the government of Zimbabwe have not been confirmed yet. With deaths increasing on a daily basis in Zimbabwe, it is about time that the vaccines arrive for the safety of Zimbabweans. Last week the Minister of Finance and Economic Development Professor Mthuli Ncube retracts his statement that the vaccine was going to be sold. Since other developed countries and allies to Zimbabwe are donating the vaccine then it is only but fair that the vaccination process is free.

After the incident in South Africa where the other batch of vaccines is not efficient enough other concerned Zimbabweans had things to say on twitter.
“Is there any data on the efficacy of this vaccine against the N501Y (SA) variant? No! So we are just going to hurt people probably for no good reason & waste money. Where are our scientists here?”
“Are they safe and effective? Are we not rushing? Can you be forced to take one? Who’s liable if anything goes wrong?”
Others are happy that at last vaccines are starting to come saying,
“That’s good news comrade how much did our government bought so far.”
“Nice”
Overally the public is not pleased with the fact that the Secretary of Information Nick Mangwana did not tell the actual number of vaccines procured by the government besides the donated ones.
