Zanu PF Director of Information Tafadzwa Mugwadi insulted an Al Jazeera journalist during a virtual debate on the show The Stream.
At the 24.06 mark of the video of the debate themed “Are Zimbabweans being silenced?”, Mugwadi says the “F” word to The Stream presenter Femi Oke.
Whilst Oke is reading the audiences’ comments, Mugwadi starts laughing interrupting her saying, “This is rubbish. F*ck you.”

Mugwadi later defended his actions on Twitter and said, “2 MDC Activists & a pliable presenter were wrapped today. For the record, I don’t tell you what you want to hear, I tell reality as it exists @AlJazeera_World A poorly organised ambush against us today failed dismally despite doctored video interludes.”
After MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere who was part of the debate reprimanded him for his actions Mugwadi said there was no crisis in Zimbabwe.
“Guess what Nyembi? I am proud I have cornered two activists, the one disguised as a human rights activist and the other armchair upstart. There is no crisis in Zimbabwe. There is a crisis in the MDCs, from MDCA to MDC-Z Sit down Nyembi”, he said.
Savanna News publishes reactions to Mugwadi’s conduct on Twitter:
“Where do they get these Zanu “Youthiez” from? Do they recruit these folks from prisons? How can such an uncouth youth become a “youth leader” in Zanu?”
“Biti actually said worse things on air.”
“But the anchor was asking leading questions to suit their already written Crisis Narrative. And rightfully so Mugwadi refused to be part of that charade which he rubished and rightly so!”
“He was also intimidating a moderator on @SABCNews just last week”
“Tjo, this is simply unbelievable! This sense of entitlement simply sums up the arrogance in the information department and the concomitant government position on the crisis in Zimbabwe. Vituperations from Mutsvangwa now this! I’m so embarrassed for this gangster behavior.”
