Eric spent most of his life playing football, much like his older life, Granted in his early life, the balls were hand made out of plastic sacks and onion bags. However true to his soccer bad-boy antics, he has a child with long time girlfriend turned ‘disgruntled ex’ Hangwani Muthavhatshindi. He tried to deny that the baby was his back in 2015 even going to the extent of requesting a paternity test to be done. The paternity test was done and revealed that he had indeed ‘scored a goal’ and ended up with a baby. He was then forced to take up his fatherly duties and pay child support for his son.

Tragedy
Eric is no stranger to tragedy. However the worst hit when his younger brother died during the Fifa 2018 world cup qualifier. Eric was in Burkinafaso for a qualifiers match when he heard the news—sacrificing his chance to say his final goodbyes to his brother, and he chose to stay with the team and represent his country. Even the Bafana Bafana coach Mashaba noted how much courage and bravery it must have took for him to keep it together during that time.
However recently tragedy struck again. Eric lost his father in January of 2021. This has left the star down trodden and saddened, but he remains strong even through this tough time.
