Enhle Mbali loses divorce case: This is how much Black Coffee will pay as maintenance
Actress Enhle Mbali recently lost a court battle to receive over R130,000 from DJ Black Coffee as maintenance as spousal support as she will be paid much less than her demands.
The court struck down her claim as it found them unsubstantiated and unreasonable.
According to an earlier application, Mbali wanted Black Coffee to pay her R80,000 in child maintenance for their two minor children, R30,000 for groceries and household items and R17,800 for her beauty cosmetics, a claim that shocked South Africans.
She also wanted her ex-husband to pay for her medical expenses as she stated that he earns over R100 million a year and can afford it.
Her case was heard and dismissed with costs, and is only going to get “R15,000 a month for maintenance and R50,000 in child support.”
The couple filed for divorce last year but the case was not settled due to Enhle Mbali’s demands.
Enhle Mbali accused Black Coffee of causing her to lose gigs as he was not comfortable with her taking roles that involved romantic scenes. Mbali wanted Black Coffee to compensate her for the loss of income.
“I also was under pressure from the respondent to not take up acting events as he would not accept me doing any romantic or intimate scenes. This demand by the respondent immediately caused many TV production companies and with numerous projects that I had been lined up for, to cancel or drop me from their lists of actresses,”
“This because, presently, romantic scenes are part and parcel of the mainstream television, and slowly and incrementally, I found myself becoming a stay-at-home mom without really being aware of it,” reads the court papers.
Mbali also wanted Black Coffee to settle her legal costs to the tune of R4 million and a yearly holiday at a cost of R500,000. She was dragged on Twitter and accused of attempting to fleece the celebrated DJ.
