PRESIDENT of Zimbabwe His Excellency Emmerson Mnangagwa has fired the Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Energy Mutodi over sentiments about the abducted MDC youths.
The termination which was announced by the Permanent Secretary of Presidential Communications Mr Regis Chikowore takes effect forthwith.
“The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr M.J.M. Sibanda, has announced the termination of employment by His Excellency the President, Cde E.D Mnangagwa, of Dr Energy Mutodi as Deputy Minister of Government in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services.
“The termination which is with immediate effect, is in terms of Section 108 (1a) of the Constitution of Zimbabwe (Amendment No. 20) of 2013,” said the Permanent Secretary, Presidential Communication Mr Chikowore.

Prior his dismissal Dr Mutodi had wrote on his Twitter account dismissing the accusations that MDC activists Joana Mamombe, Netsai Marova and Cecilia Chimbiri were abducted after Mamombe’s vehicle was found parked at the police station where they were arrested and taken into custody.
“Details emerge MDC youths Joana Mamombe, Netsai Marova and Cecilia Chimbiri went out for a romantic night in Bindura with their lovers who are artisanal miners. They parked their car at the police station for safety but tragedy struck when they demanded foreign currency for services,” Dr Mutodi said.

The Government of Zimbabwe recently distanced itself from statements supposed to have been made by the now former Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Dr Energy Mutodi saying the statements do not reflect the government’s position nor policy.
